茶海 cha hai literally means tea ocean - what a beautiful and fitting name! A relatively new addition to our tea cupboard, the chahai is steadily gaining popularity. After steeping tea in a gaiwan or teapot, the tea soup is not directly poured into the teacups, but into the chahai. This makes sure that each guests will receive the same tea. This is why the chahai is also called 公道杯 gōng dào bēi ('fairness cup').
