A “tea egg” here is commonly known as a stainless-steel infuser whose shape vaguely resembles an egg. You put tea leaves inside, pour hot water over it, remove the infuser after a short time, and your cup of tea is ready. In Asia, however, a “tea egg” means something completely different: an egg cooked in tea broth. After the initial boiling, the shell of the egg is cracked so the tea liquid can seep in. This also creates a beautiful marbled pattern on the surface of the egg. Delicious!
